Richard has an MBA from Emporia State University, a BBA from Baker University, and was a junior engineering student prior to changing disciplines. Emporia boasts the AACSB accreditation, held by only 15% of top business schools worldwide. His final semester at school he was administered the standardized Major Field Test for MBA’s, and scored 99 percentile (93%).
The majority of Richard’s actual work experience is from the hidden technical side of engineering firms, developing work flow, and orchestrating the deliverable plans and specifications across offices and disciplines on multi-million dollar fast tracked engineering projects.
He enjoys flying as a private pilot (not nearly often enough), short bicycle tours (longest to date BAK at 540 miles), reading business case studies (yes really), digital photography, the occasional round of golf, and playing with his two kids (8 & 10 at the time of post). Most importantly a beginning blogger!
Growing up in Rural Kansas, he helped out often on local farms, and spent several summers working for his Uncle’s construction company. This environment provided many opportunities for experimentation, building everything from bicycles to go carts, and raising animals for the county fair as annual 4-H projects. His senior year in High School he was a member of an Agricultural Mechanics team that placed first in Kansas, and ninth nationally. He also has won numerous metals at Math Relay’s in number theory and computer programming.
For several years Richard owned a portrait photography business operated in his spare time, photographing primarily weddings and high school seniors, as an “artistic release”.
Currently unemployed… but looking in the midwest =]
Richard’s wife is a Registered Nurse, holding a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Pittsburg State University. She hopes to begin persuing an Advanced Regestered Nurse Practitioner degree within 2 years.
